Fiscal Year | 2014 |
Division | Graduate School of Engineering & Applied Science |
Department | Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering |
Investigator(s) | Sathe, Sanjeev B. |
Sponsor | Marine Corps Systems Command (Marine Corps) |
Summary |
Objectives: -To identify and optimize exhaust duct designs that improve fuel efficiency of diesel generators. -Numerical (CFD) computations will be carried out to identify duct designs that reduce pressure drops, reduce dead recirculation zones and improve filtering capability. -Heat exchanger computations will be carried out to explore optimization of energy recovery from exhaust gases thereby improving fuel-efficiency and reducing fuel usage. -Set the stage for designs of diesel or other fuel using devices in the US Marines, US Navy, Army and Air-Force. |
