Summary | The objective of the proposed research is twofold. First it aims to develop an air traffic planning, trajectory following and collision-free assurance mechanism for operation of a small unmanned aerial vehicle in a non-positively-controlled airspace. Second, the project will verify the developed algorithms in the actual closed airspace operational environment utilizing a versatile Rapid Flight Control Prototyping system available at Naval Postgraduate School. The two tasks are well-connected through the investigation of human operator workload. The co-PIs at Naval Postgraduate School will be responsible for flight testing of the algorithms, including the issues related to human operator workload. Monthly reports and a final report will be delivered to NASA. |
