Summary | CNO and SECNAV have set a high priority on creating learning organizations within the US Navy. This study will apply social network analytic techniques to better understand high velocity learning organizations. Our research questions are: What are the organizational enablers that facilitate high velocity learning? and What are the network configurations associated with an organization that is successfully practicing high velocity learning? To answer these questions, we will conduct a literature review to identify key factors of learning organizations such as leadership, structure, culture and rewards. We will also identify a learning organization in the Navy that we can use as an exemplar case. Using interviews and a social network survey, we will learn from our case about the factors that support a learning organization and the network configuration that supports it. Research deliverables include a literature review about learning organizations, SNA results, and recommendations for leaders who might want to create and sustain a learning organization. |
