Summary |
The quantity and quality of digital communications between warfighters in battle have been increasing and will continue to do so. Leadership expects this interoperability to be a major force multiplier in future conflicts and expects it to allow smaller forces to “slug above their weight.” In order to maximize the effects of digital interoperability, however, the military must be able to properly evaluate potential new techniques and train personnel how to use them in realistic conditions. Currently, the military is moving more of its training into the live/virtual/constructive (LVC) realm. Additionally, the military is beginning to use LVC for analysis of potential weapons systems, although this is still rare. We propose to investigate using LVC to: - Examine how new digitally interoperable systems can be used in future combat scenarios; - Examine how these systems can be used to improve the planning process for operations. |
