Summary Numerous recent advances in video processing and virtual-worlds generation are providing dramatic new capabilities. Massive amounts of video can be systematically reviewed and interpreted from diverse distributed sources. Given appropriate metadata annotations and links, geospatially referenced 3D world models can be created and composed into comprehensive virtual environments. Merging the best of both disciples holds significant promise for achieving broader, deeper insights by analysts working to deliberately exploit these new resources. A synthesis of linked video products within large-scale virtual environments might bring order and organization to data sources that otherwise multiply overwhelmingly. Further, the "time machine" concept might enable analysts to explore key events and cause-effect relationships both forward and backwards along a scenario timeline. With these new opportunities come new challenges: effectively scaling up to handle massive data sources, applying coherent metadata linkages, and providing consistently relevant value for all Incisive Analysis (IA) programs. Commencing a new program for V2SW is warranted and worthwhile.
