Summary | This proposal is for funding to measure residual stresses on aluminum plate material that has been ultrasonically treated. Ultrasonic impact treatment (UIT) is used to mitigate fatigue and stress corrosion cracking in aluminum plate material used to construct ship superstructures. This project will perform both laboratory and in-field x-ray residual stress measurements on provided, ultrasonically impacted material. |
