Summary The expected result of the proposed research is to achieve an unprecedented understanding of the process of maneuvering a spacecraft-manipulator system on and around a very-large orbiting platform, during the assembly phase. In particular, a detailed mathematical model will be obtained and software simulation code developed that can be used for follow-on trade study and analysis. Furthermore, a control strategy will be developed for the `constructor' spacecraft-manipulator system.
