Summary 1. The purpose of this research is to test and demonstrate speaker verification technology in Iraqi-Arabic as part of the Iraqi Enrollment via Voice Authentication Project (IEVAP). The intent of this project is to contribute toward the future employment of speech technologies in a variety of coalition military operations by developing a pilot Proof of Concept (POC) system that integrates speaker verification and automated speech recognition (ASR) technology into a mobile platform to enhance Security and Stabilization Operations (SASO). This is a real-world "rapid reaction" project with operational requirements being levied by OSD and Biometrics Fusion Center.
2. This system will serve as a POC suite in the demonstration and pilot evaluation of an Arabic voice-activated menu-driven phone system using existing COTS technologies in order to authenticate a visitor's identity for the purpose of entry to a controlled facility/secure space. The deliverable is a commercial grade voice authentication and recognition system that could be deployed to Iraq before the end of the fiscal year.
3. This research continues a series of investigations into the application of voice authentication technologies by developing a POC suite that combines COTS voice authentication technology with COTS automated speech recognition (ASR) technology to demonstrate a functionality that does not currently exist in order to meet the needs of the United States Military and our Allies, namely the Iraqis.
