Summary The Naval Postgraduate School has developed a verified version of a naval systems engineering competency model based on the best industry and government models available through funding from ASN (RDA) in FY15. OPM assisted with the validation of the systems engineering competency model in accordance with the Uniform Guidelines for Employee Selection in FY15. In FY16 NPS will focus on development of the details of the career development aspects and implementation of the competency model. Once implemented, it can be used for human resources functions, such as hiring, promotion, etc by the DoD. The model will also support the development of a relevant systems engineering curriculum for NPS. NPS will work in collaboration with OPM to conduct and analyze both the job analysis and series of survey results and statistical tests for the model validity.
