Summary | The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Monterey CA is tasked to provide independent validation and verification (IW) observations, monthly reports, and a final report for the remote area air mobility (RAAM) and sustainment concept demonstration. This effort will identify, acquire, evaluate, integrate and rapidly deploy for field testing and evaluation an air mobility capability for small to medium-sized Special Operations Forces (SOF) and General Purpose Forces (GPF) operation in remote and austere environments. This RAAM demonstration is to provide and rapidly deploy for field evaluation and testing an air mobility capability for small to medium-sized special operations forces SOF and (GPF) operation in remote and austere environments. The requirement is to determine if the concept will meet requirements stated in the Joint Urgent Needs Statements (JUONS) and Combat Mission Needs Statement (CMNS) requesting this capability as part of "normal" operations for small units in remote areas. Requests include embedded low visibility air support for distributed operations in remote and austere environments; timely and reliable CASEVAC; and logistics resupply to SOF and GPF conduction operations where there are limited or no U. S. or allied military aviation bases. NPS will integrate on going IW student thesis and field research into this research effort. |
