Summary Supercell thunderstorms are responsible for a large percentage of weather related damages in the United States, including along coastal regions in the Southern and Eastern part of the country. Despite their great impact on society, there are still aspects of supercell's behavior that we do not understand. This research will use numerical simulations of supercells in a variety of environments to better understand the forces that regulate vertical accelerations in their cores. The results will be used to improve our ability to predict supercells.
