Summary | The wind loads on large panels of roof mounted, sun tracking, solar collectors that direct sunlight on to PV cells mounted at their collective foci (and their supporting cylindrical structures) need to be determined to establish the envelope of wind conditions in which their safe and reliable operation can be ensured. The unique design of the complete system makes such studies imperative since there is no comparable database that can provide the necessary guidance for the purpose. Wind tunnel testing of scaled models offers the best hope of achieving this goal since the problem is not amenable to theoretical and computational modeling. |
