Summary | The proposed research aims at three topics on computational methods for several issues of data assimilation. (i) Analyze the observation impact at optimal sensor locations with maximum observability; data thinning based on the measure of observability; (ii) Explore the methods and algorithms of uncertainty quantification for the estimation of model error in weak-constraint 4D-Var; (iii) Review and explore numerical methods of optimization and parallel algorithms that have significant potential for long-window data assimilation. |
