Summary |
The search for improving medical capability in sickbays to better support disaggregated operations will examine a variety of sources. We will examine the technologies that have been explored and demonstrated in some military units and in other armed services but which have not yet become standard practice in the Navy. We will also examine technologies that are currently in use in the Veteran's Affairs (VA) system. We will examine technologies that are currently available in the private sector that have been successfully used in hospitals or clinics. We will also attempt to identify new technologies in advanced stage of development that might be considered for the disaggregated sickbay of 2025. As we conduct this research, we will answer the following questions: - What are potential modifications to current sickbay capabilities that can better support disaggregated operations? - What is the likely effectiveness of the new technologies once they have been transferred to a military setting? - Which new technologies would we recommend for modification and/or inclusion in sickbays? What priority should each option have? |
