Summary College of Distance Education and Training is procuring a CMS to augment and improve the MarineNet (https://www.marinenet.usmc.mil/marinenet/) Learning Management System while also developing a collaborative and interactive learning environment. CDET is conducting research to determine and define appropriate analytic measures. Currently, CDET does not have a full understanding of all the capabilities a CMS can provide nor which metrics should be captured to support CDET's mission. This research should capture metrics that would enhance three areas of a new CMS: Student profiles, mobile video services, and site collaboration.
Our initial focus will be on Adobe products such as Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Analytics, and Adobe Captivate that support CMS/LMS and analytics but will also contrast and compare similar products. Prior CMS/LMS research has emphasized that the most important aspect of the CMS is providing insights to assist decision makers in better managing their system by including:
- Data Capture
- Dashboard
- Machine Learning
- Predictive analytics
Once we understand CDET’s three focus areas and their information needs, we will assess the capability of various commercial technologies to satisfy these analytic requirements as well as our custom analytics including Lexical Link Analysis (LLA).
