Overview

Retired submarine officer with staff experience in the joint arena. BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Washington (1989), an MS in Operations Research from Naval Postgraduate School (1996) and a Graduate Certificate in Computer Modeling and Simulation from Portland State University (2008). Attended the Santa Fe Institute Complex Systems Summer School in 2003. He is one of the original developers of Simkit, a Java framework for discrete event simulation.

At NPS Kirk works for reimbursable projects performing software development, dev/ops for AWS based projects and combat modeling. Can work on classified projects up to the Secret level, but doing so requires travel to a secure facility.
