Andy's career in public health and epidemiology began long before his formal education in the field. After a 5-year stint in the US Army as a Russian translator and intelligence professional, he left the military and began studying epidemiology and public health at UC Berkeley, receiving his MPH in epidemiology/biostatistics in 2006 and his PhD in epidemiology in 2010. For the last 8 years Dr Anglemyer has been an active member of numerous HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention guideline development committees for the World Health Organization. He has led multiple studies and meta-analyses/systematic reviews on various health topic areas including firearms and the risk of violence, HIV treatment and prevention, pediatric hyponatremia, acute kidney injury, colorectal cancer, among others.
