New NOFFS Facility to Open on Campus
By Melinda Larson, NSAM Public Affairs
A Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling Series Project (NOFFS) facility is expected to open soon at NSA Monterey in a 7,000-square foot space previously occupied by the Navy Exchange.
NOFFS, launched Navy-wide in 2012, employs a methodology to keep Sailors ashore and afloat in top physical condition. NOFFS is designed to improve operational performance, decrease the incidence and severity of musculoskeletal injuries, and provide foundational nutritional guidance for Sailors.
“We’re looking forward to moving our NOFFS program into the new facility,” said Marley Oldham, Athletics Director, Monterey Bay Athletic Club. “All patrons are welcome to attend NOFFS training for a balanced yet tough workout.”
Current NOFFS options available at the Monterey Bay Athletic Club include NOFFS Performance Training on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 - 4:15 p.m.; NOFFS Cardio Energy System Development Metabolic Conditioning on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:15 p.m.; and, NOFFS Tactical Bootcamp on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m.
The classes will carry over to the new facility, and are designed to increase performance and decrease injury with intense yet measured programming, Oldham added. NOFFS classes count as command physical fitness training for active-duty military personnel, are free, and open to all hands at NPS and NSA Monterey. For more information, e-mail FitnessC@nps.edu or call (831) 656-3118.
