After serving as a Nuclear Electronics Technician in the United States Navy, Marina earned her Associates of Arts in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Citrus College.  She then went on to study at California State University, Monterey Bay gaining her Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Science.

Marina has a passion for the environment and has participated in various research topics over the years. Some of Marina’s research efforts include working at labs across California such as Stanford’s Hopkins Marine Station to determine if seaweed can mitigate ocean acidification; Naval Information Warfare Systems Command studying copper leaching from naval ship paint; as well as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration performing trout studies in the Carmel River.

A Los Angeles native, she currently is enjoying the cooler temperatures in the Monterey Bay with her two dogs and boyfriend.
