NPS Training Officer Leaves Big Shoes to Fill

By MC1 Lewis Hunsaker

NPS Training Officer Lt. Kristen Connor is picture above in front of Herrmann Hall. Connor recently transferred from NPS, however during her time here she shouldered many responsibilities to include NPS' heritage committee president, wardroom officer, and suicide prevention coordinator.

If that was not enough, she was also the assistant to the senior watchbill officer, federally employed women member, national naval officers' association, staff development council, opsec working group, equal employment opportunity advisory committee, command assessment team member, and somehow found time to help coordinate the Navy Ball this past year.

"It's been an absolute honor and privilege to work with the amazing people at NPS. I was lucky in that I got to work with everyone including staff, faculty, students, contractors, other services and other local commands," said Connor.

During her time at NPS Connor credits her greatest accomplishments were bringing programs from either non-functioning or non-existent to passable through the IG inspection.

"It was a lot of work but with the help of a lot of people and offices all over NPS, we made it happen," said Connor. "I have learned so much during my time at NPS and have met some truly incredible people. I will be forever grateful for my time here."

NPS Chief of Staff Capt. Anthony "Tony" Parisi, also acknowledged the hard work and dedication from Connor.

"Kristen is a great Naval Officer. She continuously pushed to make things better everywhere she went and never stopped working on the behalf of NPS right up to the day she departed," said Parisi. "I hope that more folks will follow her example and work hard to better our team. She will be missed, and whoever comes after her will have big shoes to fill and high expectations to meet."

Connor's next assignment will be with Navy Region Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia.
