 Message From the Marine Representative

The NPS Marine Representative solicits thesis topics from you, our Marine Corps customer, on a continuous basis.  In addition to building a highly educated officer corps, the NPS master's program also offers a unique opportunity for our customer-base to tap into a talented pool of officers for the purpose of analyzing and researching areas of critical importance to the Corps and delivering quality solutions to some of our most pressing problems. In the past, our NPS officers have contributed significantly to solving our Corps most challenging issues across the spectrum of warfighting; from logistics, to manpower, to systems engineering and software testing/design.  It is absolutely imperative that the NPS student population serve the needs of our Corps research requirements during their thesis selection process.  This is an essential ingredient of the NPS program.  Historically, I feel this process has been too ad-hoc and needs to be centralized and optimized to satisfy this important need.

A team of Marine Corps students has captured the requirements for establishing a one-stop shopping entry portal for research requirements and for tracking progress of theses and classroom projects initiated by the customer base.  The NPS Dean of Research and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs are partnering to help us develop a professional, web-based capability for you, our primary customers at HQMC, MCCDC, Systems Command, MCTSSA and the Operating Forces, to register your research requirements with NPS; the next step being the NPS review of your emerging requirements and then finding an appropriate curriculum/student to accomplish your research or project needs.  The system we envision should have the ability for you, our customer, to review progress and provide rudder guidance thereby ensuring the research does not occur in a vacuum and miss the target.

I will post updated information on this website once firm dates for fielding this capability are developed.  If you are a stakeholder in this process and want to contact me directly, you can send me email at Marine Corps Rep Email.
