Leave, Permissive TAD & Funded TAD
Leave and PTAD completed in a two-step process...
Leave. The Dean of Students approves leave for NPS Marines. I get a courtesy copy so I know when and where Marines are on leave, but I will not micromanage your leave requests. If you are requesting leave during a regular class day - even if YOU don't have class on that day - you are required to get your Program Officer's approval on the leave request. To get your Program Officer's approval, simply route the electronic form to your Program Officer via email and ask them to check on the "Recommend Approval" block and type their name in the Program Officer's signature block and have them route it to the Student Leave email account in Outlook global names. The USMC Leave Request form is available for download from HERE. Save the file with your initials replacing the ABC portion of the filename and the start date year, month, and day of your leave request. Fill out the form COMPLETELY and route through the approval chain. That's step 1.Step 2 is to register your non-availability for daily muster with the Student Services Officer. Click HERE to enter your dates of non-availability once your Leave/PTAD/TAD is approved.
Permissive TAD .If you are requesting Permissive TAD orders from the MARDET for house-hunting in connection with PCS orders, etc., the same rules apply as for leave except I am in the approval chain for PTAD. The USMC PTAD Request form is available for download from HERE.
Funded TAD . The command funding your TAD will prepare your TAD orders. In most cases while at NPS your funded TAD will be handled by the NPS Travel Office. In this case you do not have to fill out a PTAD Request form, but you will have to enter your dates on non-availability for muster with the Student Services Officer, AND send me an email note letting me know your dates and location of TAD in case I should need to contact you during your TAD.
