Perspective View Nascent Technologies (PVNT)
PVNT (Perspective View Nascent Technologies) software package addresses the generation and utilization of accurate one-meter world wide terrain databases for measurement, analysis, and visualization of tactical battlefield situations. Designed for live-virtual applications PVNT combines features of computer graphics simulators with GIS accuracy. It’s major advantages are that it runs on a Laptop PC, contains an extremely efficient ray trace algorithm, performs real time rendering using physics based surface parameters.
It also provides built-in database generation tools to allow the measurement of surface features required to replicate concealment and cover as they existing on actual battlefields. PVNT meets the challenge of generating and utilizing 1-meter resolution terrain environments in large area tactical battlefield simulations. PVNT uses voxel rather than vector databases and is therefore oriented toward sensor measurement interfaces required for real time battlefield applications.
The PVNT Users Group Project is designed to disseminate the PVNT software package to qualified users in order to promote the utilization of existing capabilities and the development of new capabilities requiring the accurate representation of the real world in synthetic natural environment. Three levels of information will be provided. These are:
Demo CD - Executables, Sample Terrain Data, demonstrations, and user manuals.
Tutorial CD - Sample Raw data, Sample field Interface Software, Job and project descriptions
Source CD - VC++ source code and available documentation provided to qualified users interested in software development and tailoring of the PVNT package.
