Research Associate
Sara Kauffman is a Research Associate with the Program of Culture and Conflict Studies. Prior to joining the CCS team, Ms. Kauffman worked for the Population Council in Egypt. Her research duties included studying the effect of a literacy program targeting adolescent girls in rural Egypt. Aside from living and working in Egypt for three years, Ms. Kauffman has lived in Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and has traveled extensively throughout the region.
In 2006, Sara Kauffman earned an MA in Economics of International Development from the American University in Cairo, Egypt. Ms. Kauffman’s thesis compared the effectiveness of the International Monetary Fund in the Middle East. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a focus on Information Technology and a minor in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Ms. Kauffman’s research interests include economic development, the effective deliverance of aid, and women’s issues in the Middle East and Central Asia.
