The NPS Alumni Relations Office was established in July 1997 at the recommendation of the Superintendent to communicate with the growing population of Naval Postgraduate School alumni, more than 60,000 strong. The purpose of the Alumni Relations Office is to inform the university community, specifically alumni, of important news, events, academic achievements and accomplishments of the students, alumni and faculty. The Naval Postgraduate School would like to foster a strong relationship with alumni, no matter how far removed they are from Monterey.
The Alumni Relations Office also seeks to keep the Department of Navy leadership informed of the impact of our alumni on the Department of Defense. Even after retirement, many of our alumni continue to serve the department, working for defense contractors, consulting and research corporations, and within the Department of Defense itself. The investment made in an officer’s graduate education earns dividends, and those rewards continue even after retirement.
Remembering Monterey
The Naval Postgraduate School has long been considered one of the Navy’s best regarding its quality of life, thanks to the majestic beauty of the Monterey Peninsula. From the golden shores of Monterey to the rocky coastline of Big Sur…from the war, small-town feel of Carmel to the sea of monarch butterflies traveling through Pacific Grove, the peninsula offers much for NPS students and their families.
The NPS alumni population has also shared in the beauty and history of Monterey, and the opportunities continue. The recent expansion of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, world-renowned golf courses in Pebble Beach, excellent dining, Laguna Seca Raceway and historic Cannery Row are only a few examples of recreational opportunities for the entire NPS community.
The Naval Postgraduate School will sponsor various events, inviting our graduates back to the Monterey Peninsula…giving them a chance to catch up on old times, and pay a visit to their alma mater.
The Alumni Relations Office can also provide support to smaller reunions organized by our graduates. The opportunity to return to the Monterey Peninsula is better than ever. Remember Monterey. And let the NPS Alumni Relations Office help bring you back to this area with its rich history and breathtaking scenery.
