July 2011

  • NPS alum, LCDR Patrick Baker, presented his thesis research June 27 at the Brookings Institute following the recent purchase by Russia of French Mistral-class helicopter assault ships. Baker's degree is in Europe and Eurasian security studies; his advisor was Dr. Mikhail Tsypkin. You can read a transcript of his presentation here.

  • Prof. Feroz Khan recently made two radio appearances to discuss the role that religious faith plays in Pakistani politics and the expansion of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. Follow the links to listen online.

  • Thomas H. Johnson, Research Professor and Director of the Program for Culture & Conflict Studies, was featured on NPR's On Point with Tom Ashbrook on May 12, 2010. February 2010

  • A joint team of active-duty U.S. military officers – including NSA Dept. alumnus Lt Col Jefferson E. Turner, USAF – takes a second look at the Soviet Afghan war and what the U.S. could learn in their article, "Follow the Bear," in the Feb. 2010 edition of Proceedings. (To read: click here.)

October 2009

  • The 2009 conference of the International Security Studies Section of ISA and the International Security and Arms Control Section of APSA will be hosted by NPS on Oct. 15-17, 2009 and co-chaired by NSA Dept. faculty members James A.
