Significant Professional Activities

Alex Bordetsky served as C2 Architectures Track Chair for 11th ICCRTS in Cambridge, UK; as Network Design and Management Session Chair in International Conference on Telecommunications Systems Modeling and Analysis at Penn State; and was elected by SOCOM as Networking Advisor for SOCOM Product Selection Board, starting October 22nd.

Alex Bordetsky, as a Principal Investigator, conducted TNT -06-3 (end of Spring) and 06-4 (end of Summer) experiments both in Camp Roberts (HVT/ISR focus) and SF Bay (MIO /Boarding Party support focus). We’ve discovered new solutions for adaptive self-aligning networking (network-on-target), UAV-enhanced networking for support of battlefield medics, and brought international presence in MIO experiment. The latter includes command post in Sweden, Command post in Singapore, and surveillance site in Bavarian Alps (Austria). The team’s studies of networking and collaborative technology received recognition in several featured articles:

  • SIGNAL Magazine (May 2006): Collaboration Enables Technological Slight of Hand, by Robert K. Ackerman,
  • Via Satellite (September 2006): Military Supplement, Space: Modular, Open Systems, by Peter Brown,
  • LLNL Newsline (September 2006): Marine Experiment Tests detection Capability, by David Shwoegler.

Dan Dolk, as Vice President of IFIP Working Group 7.6, participated in a planning workshop for the next Virtual Environments for Analytical Modeling (VEAM) Workshop to be held in Krakow, Poland in July 2007.

Mark Nissen organized the Summer Edge Research Workshop in August, which attracted some of the world’s leading experts in their areas.
