The new chair of the Applied Mathematics Department is Prof. Carlos Borges.
Professor Clyde Scandrett was just awarded Exemplary Award for his service and outstanding leadership as Department of Mathematics Chair form 2002-2008.
Associate Professor Hong Zhou was awarded the Extraordinary Merit in Teaching Award for her extraordinary dedication to classroom teaching and thesis advising in a wide range of subjects in applied mathematics; and for her ability to consistently build the students appreciation for the relevance of mathematics as they learn the principles and techniques.
