Offsite and Distance Learning Information

Distance Learning

The Graduate School of Business & Public Policy offers a wide variety of non-resident programs. The delivery methods range from on-site instruction to two-way video teleconferencing Education (VTE) systems. We offer fully accredited graduate degree programs, nondegree graduate-level management courses, DAWIA-mandated courses, and senior-level executive education short courses.

VTE-based Programs

The Graduate School of Business & Public Policy offers three degree programs oriented to the DoD civilian and military personnel. The Executive MBA program is an 8-quarter program with classes on alternating Fridays and Saturdays. The Master of Science in Contract Management (MSCM) and the Master of Science in Program Management (MSPM) each are nine quarter programs with eight quarters of coursework accomplished via distance learning and a ninth (accelerated) quarter at NPS. Admission is currently obtained through application to an individual’s Command.

In addition to the three graduate degree programs, we also offer nondegree graduate-level courses, DAWIA-mandated courses, and senior-level executive education short courses.

Master of Science in Contract Management Program

The Master of Science in Contract Management (MSCM) Degree (Curriculum 835) is a nine quarter program offered through a combination of distance learning and resident work at NPS. It is designed to provide civilians in the Department of Defense (DOD) and other Federal Government agencies an advanced education in the concepts, methodologies and analytical techniques necessary for successful management of acquisition and contracting within complex organizations.

Master of Science in Program Management Program

The Master of Science in Program Management (MSPM) Degree (Curriculum 836) is a nine quarter program offered through a combination of distance learning and resident work at NPS. It is designed to provide civilians in the Department of Defense (DOD) and other Federal agencies an advanced education in the concepts, methodologies and analytical techniques necessary for successful management of programs/projects within complex organizations.

Acquisition Management Courses

This program includes graduate acquisition courses which satisfy Defense Acquisition University (DAU)mandatory training requirements in various career fields and the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirement for 24 semester hours of business subjects.
