Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. David K. Heebner returned to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) to speak to the university’s students, faculty and staff, August 13, as a Secretary of the Navy Guest Lecturer. An icon in air missile defense circles and current senior executive for General Dynamics corporation, the 1976 operations research/systems analysis graduate was welcomed back to campus with the university’s prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award, presented by NPS President retired Vice Adm. Ronald A. Route in King Auditorium following Heebner’s address.

NPS honored some 313 graduates earning 318 advanced degrees at the ceremony, including representatives from every branch of the U.S. military as well as Department of Defense civilians and students from 16 partnered and allied nations.

The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) honored some 313 graduates earning 318 advanced degrees during its Spring Quarter Graduation Ceremony at King Auditorium, June 20.

NPS alumnus Rear Adm. P. Gardner Howe has been named the next President of the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Gardner graduated from the university’s special operations/low-intensity conflict curriculum in 1995.

Rear Adm. P. Gardner Howe, a 1995 graduate of the special operations/low intensity conflict (SOLIC) curriculum at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), has been named the next President of the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
