Announcements / News

  • Defense Travel Dispatch (25 Aug 2010)
This is the Summer Edition of the Defense Travel Management Office's quarterly publication on Defense travel and DTS.

  • Requesting FY11 LOA in DTS (23 Aug 2010)
Follow this document for requesting FY11 LOAs from the NPS Comptroller.

  • Fiscal Year 2010-2011 Crossover Travel (4 Aug 2010)
This document describes the procedure for creating travel documents that cross the FY boundary (30 Sept-1Oct) or for travel wholly within FY 2011. FY-10 Direct-funded travel must be approved in DTS by 6 Aug and reimbursable-funded must be approved by 31 August.

  • Authorizing Official Briefing (20 July 2010)
    PowerPoint Presentation

  • Excursion Fares (20 May 2010)
This previous excursion fare document is cancelled. Excursion fares are now allowed on the same routes as gov't. fares if they are cheaper than the gov't. fare and are available to the general public. They are not available in DTS, but they MUST have AO approval and be purchased through SATO. If the contract city-pair airline offers the same fare as another airline, then the contract airline MUST be used. For more information, contact the Travel Office at 2041.

  • NPS International Travel Program (17 Dec 2009)
This PowerPoint presentation contains all the requirements for foreign travel. Be sure to review it early in the planning process in that some requirements have long lead times.

  • Secure Flight Program Update (29 Sept 2009)
The TSA Secure Flight Program was installed into DTS on 26 September. DTS users will now be prompted to enter the traveler's last name, first name, middle name (or no middle name), date of birth, and gender when they make the first flight reservation in an authorization. The entered name info must match the traveler's name as it appears on the photo id to be used at the airport. The entered information can be saved permanently. Saving it will not update the DTS traveler profile name, but the added info will be stored in a separate tab in the profile. Users who need to use a different ID (e.g. passport for OCONUS travel) may change the name for the current document/reservation only.
Click to see DTS Document on the Secure Flight Program.

  • Global Positioning System (GPS) for Rental Cars (July 2009)
As of 1 August, GPS will be allowed in rental cars under the condition stated in the following entry from JTR/JFTR Appendix G: "The optional Global Positioning System (GPS) for a rental car is not reimbursable unless the AO can determine it was necessary for official business.”
