Ahmad Waheed

Research Analyst

Ahmad WaheedAhmad Waheed is a Research Analyst with the Program for Culture & Conflict Studies. He focuses on cultural, political and economic dimensions of Afghanistan. Born in Kandahar, Afghanistan, he graduated from high school in Kandahar city prior to Operation Enduring Freedom. He subsequently received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kabul University and has five years of combined professional experience working for the United Nations and the Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (AIESEC). In addition, Mr. Waheed was President of AIESEC in Afghanistan, one of the largest international student organizations, present in over 100 countries and 1100 universities worldwide. He has also worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) as an Administrative Assistant in Afghanistan’s Kandahar-office.

Ahmad Waheed was awarded the prestigious J. William Fulbright Scholarship and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in International Policy Studies, with a specialization in international development at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS).

Ahmad Waheed has traveled extensively to various European and Asian countries, participating in national and international conferences. The purpose of these conferences was youth engagement in regional and global discussion, building up a network of cooperation, leadership and business communications. He has written numerous policy papers on South Asian issues such as the Counter Narcotics Campaign in Afghanistan, Anti-Corruption Strategy in Afghanistan and a study on the Durand line between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
