Dr. Peter Denning, the Director of the Cebrowski Institute for Innovation and Information Superiority, poses with artwork displayed at the institute’s center in Glasgow Hall. Denning, who also serves as the Computer Science Department Chair, is heading a design team for a summit titled, “Rebooting Computing, the Magic and Beauty of Computer Science,” which will explore new ways to ignite interest in the computing field. Naval Postgraduate School Assistant Professor of National Security Affairs and Co-Director of the NPS Center for Contemporary Conflict Christopher Twomey has edited a new book, Perspectives on Sino-American Strategic Nuclear Issues, based on presentations at the third annual session of the U.S.-China Strategic Dialogue hosted by the Center in Honolulu last Nov. The Dialogues are part of “Track 2” diplomacy that Twomey and his colleagues have quietly facilitated between the U.S. and the People’s Republic of China for the past three years. Half of the paired chapters are by U.S. nuclear policy makers and academic experts including NPS faculty members, and half by active duty and retired Chinese flag officers and academicians. (Released)

A monitor displays infrared video being taken on ‘demo night’ as part of the Naval Postgraduate School Modeling of Virtual Environments and Simulation (MOVES) Institute hosted 8th Annual Open House and Research Summit held July 15-17. The Open House hosted prominent keynote speakers, discussed research in Modeling and Simulation and boasted over 20 different demonstrations. (Released)

Recently, the radar was on display for the 54th Annual Tri-Service Radar Symposium held at NPS. This Symposium attracted researchers involved in radar system development from the U. S., Canada, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand. (Released)
