Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Patrick M. Walsh was at the Naval Postgraduate School June 15 graduation ceremony where he gave an inspiring keynote address. Walsh and NPS President Vice Adm. Daniel Oliver oversaw the presentation of advanced degrees to 281 students crossing the stage. One hundred forty five graduates hailed from the Navy, 18 from the Marine Corps, 37 from the Army, 30 from the Air Force and one from the Coast Guard. Twelve were from the Naval Reserves, one from the Army Reserves and one from the National Guard. Seventy two students also received Joint Professional Military Education certification from the Naval War College curriculum located at NPS. (Released)

Partnership for Peace Educators Program Partnership for Peace Educators Program

The Partnership for Peace Consortium held its first Educators Program at the NATO Defense College May 28 -31, 2007. The goal of this program was to create an open forum for dialogue and sharing among nations about learning and teaching. In this interactive seminar, best practices, effective instructional strategies and the use of technology to enable and support education for reform were examined and applied to simulations, case studies, and action planning exercises. The initial Educators Program was well received by participants from nine partner countries. The consortium plans to offer the Educators Program and support to individual partner countries on an ongoing basis. The Naval Postgraduate School was instrumental in planning and implementing this event and was represented by: Dr. Donald Abenheim, Maureen Bowman, Tom Hazard, Dr. Ben Roberts, Alan Richmond, and Ali Rodgers. The Defense Analysis Department, part of the Naval Postgraduate School’s Graduate School Operational and Information Sciences was heavily represented in a special issue of Third World Quarterly. The issue was titled “The Long War – Insurgency, Counterinsurgency and Collapsing States.” Four of the authors are, left to right, Professors Hy Rothstein, Doug Borer, Glenn Robinson and Kalev Sepp. (Released)
