General Wallace delivers NPS Commencement Speech

The Naval Postgraduate School awarded Ph.D. and master degrees to 233 students March 23 at the Winter graduation ceremonies. The keynote speaker was Gen. William Scott Wallace. Wallace, commanding general of the U. S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Ft. Monroe, Va., told the graduates “the challenge I place before you today is to take this world-class education and apply it to real world situations.” A graduate from NPS, he spoke from experience. (Released)

Memorial Service held for Vice Adm. Joseph Metcalf

An admiral who was one of the Navy’s staunchest advocates for officer graduate education, particularly Naval Postgraduate School programs, was laid to rest Mar. 8 following a memorial service at the Naval Academy chapel. (Released)

Alum Receives Distinguished Alumni Award

Donald “Red” Layton, who was honored Nov. 22 with an NPS Distinguished Alumni Award, is one of about 500 students, staff, faculty and families who moved with NPS from Annapolis to Monterey in 1951. (Released)
