Movers push a carriage into the Monterey Maritime and History Museum at Custom House Plaza, in Monterey. The carriage was part of the Relive the Magic: Hotel Del Monte, exhibit. Carriages like this one were used to take people to the race track as well as take them along the 17-Mile Drive, according to John Sanders, NPS Dudley Knox Library, Special Collections Manager. (Released)

When the Naval Postgraduate School begins celebrating its centennial in 2009, this World War II ‘dog tag’ held by former astronaut and NPS National Reconnaissance Office Chair Dan Bursch (left) will be on proud display. The metal identification tag of Capt. H.A. Spanagel will be carried into space by NPS alumni Stephen Frick, (Aeronautical Engineering, 1994) and Alan Poindexter (Aeronautical Engineering, 1995) aboard the STS-122 Space Shuttle mission in December. Frick is mission commander and Poindexter will be his pilot. Prof. Rudy Panholzer, chair of the NPS Space Systems Academic Group, is at right. (Released)
