Submitted 4/23/2007 12:30:23 PM

Naval Postgraduate School Professor of Mechanical and Astronautical Engineering I. Michael Ross briefs NPS Space Systems Academic Group students on NASAís use of his optimal control software to maneuver the International Space Station cost-free, without the need to use thrusters and expend valuable fuel. The software scheduled a series of commands to the stationís control moment gyroscope attitude controllers, on Nov. 5, 2006, and again on March 3, that moved it through its historic fuel-free trajectory.
