Naval Medical Administrative Unit (NMAU)

Naval Medical Admin Unit (NMAU), Monterey, serves as the medical liaison office for all Navy and Marine Corps service members attached to Naval Post Graduate School, the Defense Language Institute, Naval Support Activity Monterey, Fleet Numerical and Oceanography and several other smaller tenant commands. The mission of NMAU is to provide medical support services in order to detect and resolve issues impacting unit and individual mission requirements. Services provided include: suitability screenings for all Operational duty screenings, the administrative portion of the Periodic Health Assessment, health benefits advisement for international students, consultation and referral authorization, limited duty and medical evaluation board coordinator, preventive medicine and industrial hygiene inspections of Naval Support Activity Monterey.

IN-PROCESSING/OUT-PROCESSING:

Navy and Marine Corps personnel should check in/out with the Army Health Clinic at the POM Bldg 422

Hours for In-processing at Army Health Clinic:
Monday - Friday: 0900 - 1530

Joint Services in - processing times and location in Bldg 326:
Tuesday: 0800 - 1100 and 1300 - 1530

PHYSICALS:

Location: Army Health Clinic POM Bldg 422.

Flight physical, Separation physicals, and other types of Physicals (except reenlistment) appointments are extremely limited, therefore we recommend appointments be made 60 days prior to the exam. To obtain a physical please use Relay Health https://app.relayhealth.com. Click here for instructions to obtain an appointment.


RE-ENLISTMENTS:

Individuals need to schedule an appointment with NMAU for a re-enlistment screening. These screenings must be conducted by a doctor or physician assistant and require an appointment be made approximately 30 days before desired re-enlistment date.


UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

All Navy and Marine Corps personnel will conduct business in the Uniform of the Day unless you are in a leave or liberty status.


Emergencies:

  • Call 911 (on base, call 9 - 911)
  • Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) is the regional emergency department.
    • If you go to the Emergency Room, follow up in sick call the next duty day or call for a follow-up appointment so Medical can add information to your medical record and settle the TRICARE bill. Appointment desk: is 866-957-2256. For same day acute appointments hours at the Army Health clinic is 0700-0900 Mon-Fri.
  • Afterhours use Nurse Advice Line to answer your urgent care questions, give you health care advice, help you find a doctor, or schedule a next-day appointment at the Army Health Clinic or Pediatrics. 800-874-2273, option 1.

TRICARE:

Active duty service members are REQUIRED to enroll in TRICARE Prime and MUST fill out an enrollment application. This can be done in three ways:
