National Security Institute - Scholar PhD Program Guidelines
The NSI focuses on collaborative work in attacking and solving science and technology problems of interest to the national defense and security, including Homeland Defense and Security.
As part of its efforts, the NSI fosters students studying at the PhD level who intend to enter service in the federal government or national laboratories after completion of their degree.
National Security Institute Scholars receive...
- Starting salary/stipend of $35,000 per year for doctoral students in the early stages of their program of study
- Salary/stipend of $38,000 per year after being advanced to candidacy for the PhD degree,
- Tuition payment in full at $20,000 per year,
- Full federal employment with benefits including participation in federal health insurance, life insurance, and retirement programs,
- Book reimbursement of up to $1,000, and
- Postgraduate careers in federal service or at a national laboratory.
