Graduates of this program will be thoroughly acquainted with national needs and will be experts in their field of specialization. They will be able to step immediately into positions of responsibility upon graduation. Since they are NPS employees while in the program, they will be eligible for security clearance investigations while at NPS.
In the NSI Scholars program, the salary, benefits, and tuition are covered from NSI funds; subsequent years of study and research are reimbursable project research funds obtained by the faculty of NPS who incorporate the NSI Scholar into the research program. These faculty research sponsors will also be the student's dissertation supervisor. The student's academic advisory committee will be made up of qualified personnel from the partner institutions, as appropriate to the research topic.
