Unclassified/Unlimited NPS theses can also be searched through the Defense Technical Information Center's (DTIC) Online Public Technical Reports database. Searching for NPS Theses and DissertationsMany of the dissertations and theses written at the Naval Postgraduate School can be found by searching BOSUN, our online catalog or Hyperion, our digital archives collection. These include theses/dissertations designated for Unclassified/Unlimited distribution (cleared for Public Release). Publicly released theses/dissertations can be found in our open Thesis collection on the 2nd floor. Theses/dissertations that are Unclassified but for Limited distribution, or Confidential or Secret are housed in our Restricted Resources and Services (RRS) section on the 1st floor and are available according to the limitations of the distribution statements and/or classification level. To do an effective thesis search in BOSUN, click on the THESIS tab. This will take you to a screen that will allow you to enter you search for a specific author or title or to search by keyword but the results will be limited to the THESIS collection only. If a link exists in the BOSUN record, you will be able to access an electronic copy directly. Unclassified/Unlimited NPS theses can also be searched through the Defense Technical Information Center's (DTIC) Online Public Technical Reports database. Electronic copies of theses from approximately 1997 to the present are also available. Requesting Copies of NPS ThesesUnclassified/Unlimited NPS theses are available for check-out to all holders of NPS library cards, all other levels are only available to NPS personnel with appropriate clearances or who otherwise meet the distribution restrictions. The Dudley Knox Library does NOT lend theses except to other military institutions. Copies of unclassified/unlimited theses can be purchased from either of the following agencies depending upon the particular circumstances: Individuals affiliated with a research and development activity within the U.S. Government or its associated contractors, subcontractors, or grantees, under current U.S. Government contract, should order from the Defense Technical Information Center.
