Please note the following policy when requesting the use of the heavy duty shredder located in Restricted Resources and Services
(RRS) in Dudley Knox Library:
- The shredder is to be used for official documents only. The shredding process should be justified by papers that contain limited,
classified, or sensitive information such as Social Security Numbers.
- All large heavy-duty staples and other hardware are to be removed from papers and materials should be free of plastic covers,
notebook covers, file holders, etc. A good rule to remember is that the shredder shreds paper only.
- Approval must be obtained if more than 5 boxes of material are to be shredded. Special conditions, including reimbursement
of library labor costs, may be put into effect for large orders.
- You may do your own shredding if:
- You make an appointment for instruction on how to run the machine.
- You have a secret clearance or make arrangements for an escort.
- You make an appointment at a convenient time to do the shredding.
- You may request:
- To witness the shredding.
- To have an e-mail or phone call telling you when the shredding is completed.
- Boxes of paper to be shredded must be delivered to RRS by the requestor between 1300-1500 on Monday or 1000-1200 on Tuesday
through Thursday . Please call x2061 before bringing in boxes.
