The Dudley Knox Library has been a selective federal depository since 1963. In accordance with federal law (44 USC sec. 1911), we provide access to the general public for resources distributed though the Federal Depository program including paper,
microfiche, tangible electronic products [e.g. CD-ROM and DVD] and via the Internet.
The public are allowed access to our materials but due to current security restrictions must contact the Library to be placed
on the Gate Access list prior to entry. Based on the Naval Postgraduate School Access policy, 24 hour notice is required.

Guidelines for Government Information in Electronic Format
The electronic government publications selected by the Library are listed in BOSUN the Library’s online catalog. Links are
provided for Internet accessible publications. Tangible electronic government publications [i.e. CD-ROM, DVD and floppy diskettes]
may be checked out.
The Library complies with the "Recommended Specifications for Public Access Work Stations."
The Library will fax or email information distributed via the federal depository program to members of the public as needed.
The Library provides Loaner disks for patron use.
Reference staff will assist users as needed or requested.
Guidelines for FDLP Internet Use
Publicly accessible PCs in the library allow access to http, PDF, telent, ftp and gopher links on unrestricted governments
and non-government Web pages. Users may print or download Web pages or documents.
Use of computer workstations is subject to Naval Postgraduate School and Department of Defense guidelines. Disclaimers and Privacy and Security notice. The use of filtering software is maintained by the School [NPS Appropriate Use Policy]. If access to any specific site is
restricted due to the rating policy employed by the software, requests can be made to have site reviewed and opened. .Gov
and .Mil sites are not restricted except for security purposes.
Reference assistance is available for electronic information at the same level as for commercial resources.
