Research Resources
Use the QUICK LINKS located at the top left of each of the library's web pages.
Search BOSUN Catalog
Use this to look for books, reports, and NPS theses held in the Library. Use the Thesis Search option to search only the NPS thesis collection. You can use the bibliography of a previous thesis as a stepping stone for your own research. You can also find out who the thesis advisors were. You may want to contact them for help with thesis topics or as potential thesis advisors.
Search Databases
Use this to look for articles and reports for your thesis research. Most of the resources you can find here are not available through Google. If you are just searching Google, you are not doing academic research.
Find eJournals
If you are tying to locate a specific article, use this to see if the library has access to it.
Request Article or Book
If the library does not have access to an item, ask the library to get a copy for you. The universe of information on your topic is greater than what the library can afford to purchase. But If an item has been published we can probably get a digital copy of an article or conference paper or borrow a hard copy book from another library for you.
Subject Guides
The library has put together a number of research guides to various topics. These guides point out some of the more relevant resources in these areas.
WorldCat
There are many more books on your topic than you will find in the library's catalog. To research the book literature on your topic you need to search a much larger catalog such as WorldCat which contains the catalogs of over 9000 libraries. If you find a book that we don't own, request that we borrow it for you.
