Dudley Knox Library is the academic library at NPS.
Our collection includes print and electronic books and journals, government documents and other materials, selected to support NPS research. We also subscribe to electronic tools called databases that index scholarly and professional literature of interest to NPS research.
A library account is required to access many of our electronic books and other downloadable resources. Find out more here. Questions about your account can be directed to Circulation. If you have a question about materials you have requested from another library, contact Interlibrary Loan.
Librarians are available to assist you whether you are here in Monterey or taking part in NPS programs from other locations. Reach us via Ask a Librarian. In addition, we offer a variety of single-session workshops each quarter, as well as providing online introductions to many library resources. View a downloadable introduction, or a see a video about our library and the NPS mission. Welcome to the Library.

New NPS Research on Gang Violence Profiled in News
Local news sources in the Monterey Area have profiled a recent NPS thesis on Gang Violence in the Salinas area. Understanding environmental factors that affect violence in Salinas, California, by NPS researchers Jason A. Clarke and Tracy L.Onufer examines evidence that links nearly 30 years of violence in Salinas to education and employment levels, but not necessarily to crowded housing or police staffing levels. Find this thesis as part of the library's digital archive, or download it here.
