Research Interests:

Procurement automation and end-to-end Electronic Acquisition, particularly within the defense and aerospace arena.

Background:

Mr. Rodney Matsushima is currently a Vice President at Suntiva, LLC an 8(a) Professional Services Firm.  He has been in the government acquisition and contract management business for more than 35 years as a Contracting Officer in the Department of Defense and within the contractor professional services outsourcing arena. 

Mr. Rodney Matsushima is a highly respected thought leader in the area of procurement automation and end-to-end acquisition, particularly within the defense and aerospace arena.  He brings a unique perspective as a hands-on acquisition executive from DoD, as well as someone who is an executive in the private sector. 

During his 20 years of active duty as a Naval Officer, Mr. Matsushima held various management positions afloat and ashore.  His Acquisition and Contracting positions included assignments at the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (API&A); Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Seattle; Naval Regional Contracting Center, Long Beach and the Long Beach Naval Shipyard.

As an active member of the National Contract Management Association, he was a Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) and was elected as a NCMA Fellow.  He is currently a member of the Washington DC Chapter of NCMA.  Rodney was past Director of the Monterey Peninsula Chapter and President of the Beach Cities Chapter. 

Mr. Matsushima received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Purdue University and his Master’s of Science degree in Acquisition and Contract Management from the Naval Postgraduate School.
