Mission:
The Office of Continuous Learning (OCL) is chartered to develop, coordinate, and deliver focused, relevant, quality learning opportunities to those Naval and defense customers who are not able to attend NPS on a full time residential basis.
Methods include, delivery of classes to fleet concentration areas by visiting NPS faculty, education via video Tele - Education systems, and increasingly providing on-line learning opportunities through web based technologies.
OCL has also established Fleet Concentrated Area (FCA) offices to provide access to the Professional Military Education (PME) Outreach Program in support of these DL methods and broadening its outreach and ability to disseminate its varied graduate educational opportunities.
Purpose:
- Training: train faculty to successfully utilize emerging technologies
- Providing: encourage and support content development
- Building: creating a NPS DL environment that promotes and enables life-long learning.
- Networking: creating and leveraging partnerships
- incorporating simulation and scenarios to provide rich, relevant and unique experiential learning opportunities
- experimenting with new and emerging technologies, and
- Investing in reusable learning objects (RLOs) to leverage content across multiple curricula and delivery methods.
Vision:
It is our vision to be recognized and sought out throughout the Navy, DoD and international communities, as the “Center of Excellence” in advancing knowledge and enhancing learning through blended Distributed Learning Methodologies and Outreach.
