Workshop Description:

This facilitated workshop is designed to be the first in a three or four part CSRS series on SSR that will be conducted over the course of 18-24 months. Approximately twenty participants with either SSR or education/training expertise from the armed forces, government civilian agencies, NGOs, and IOs will work together to review the “state-of-the-art” in SSR and propose education or training initiatives related to SSR. Plenary sessions and two or three break out groups will be used to achieve the objectives below.

Objectives

  • Review contemporary innovations/practices within the broad SSR field.
  • Develop a listing of education and/or training needs for practitioners (armed forces, government civilians, NGOs, and IOs) in the SSR field.
  • Identify organizations which might be able to collaborate for the development and delivery of SSR-related education and/or training.
  • Expand personal and organizational networks and strengthen the cross-community SSR practitioner network.

Upon completion, a report detailing the proceedings and key findings of the workshop will be posted on the CSRS website.
