Departing GSEAS Dean Reflects on School's Development

An underwater robot pod, part of the Adaptive Sampling and Prediction network, is launched off the deck of a research vessel into Monterey Bay. This cold-water upwelling, oceanographic research was developed with the help of NPS’ Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and headed by a team of multidisciplinary investigators. The departing dean of GSEAS, Dr. James Kays, understood the importance of each department’s role in the development of the nation’s defense and established interdisciplinary focus areas to help articulate its strengths to the Navy. Wargame Explores Use of Counter-IED Systems

Vehicles much like the ones used in the simulated Wargames Analysis course (OA 4604) are hit by Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and destroyed. The goal of the wargames was to learn how to employ specific pieces of equipment and determine which policies would work best in different types of scenarios. NPS Helps CFC Raise Record-Breaking Funds for Local Community

For the 2007-2008 year, NPS was awarded the United Way of Monterey County Excellence Award for the CFC’s greatest growth, and helped raise nearly half a million dollars for local non-profit organizations.
