Golf
Course Renovation update
The
construction phase on nine holes of the
golf course renovation will be completed
by the end of September. As these holes
are being “grown-in” by the
golf course maintenance staff, construction
will continue on the remaining holes. The
construction phase will continue until early
December when the final holes are turned
over to the golf maintenance staff for grow-in.
The grow-in phase of the renovation will
continue until a projected opening date
of 1 June, 2009.
Those
familiar with the pre-renovation course
will see dramatic changes in the look of
the new course. Significant increases in
the size of the lakes provided the needed
fill to add elevation and contours to the
entire course. The lakes come into play
on four of the final nine holes and will
present a challenge to the best of golfers.
A new state of the art irrigation system
will allow for all areas of the course to
be maintained in superb playing conditions
year round. New concrete cart paths will
be at all tee and green complexes and some
holes will have continuous cart paths. The
new lakes, strategic bunkering and added
contours offer a spectacular view from every
tee and every shot into the greens. We look
forward to having you play our new course
next year. We will be the #1 Course in the
Navy!
